B0 is the starting point of the B series. A0 is defined by its area of one square metre, B0 by its short side of one metre. That gives an area of 1.414 m², or √2 square metres. B0 is therefore larger than A0 but smaller than 2A0.

B0 in pixels
| Resolution | Pixels | Megapixels | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 72 dpi | 2835 × 4008 px | 11.4 MP | Screen, preview |
| 96 dpi | 3780 × 5344 px | 20.2 MP | Screen (Windows default) |
| 150 dpi | 5906 × 8350 px | 49.3 MP | Large format, posters seen from a distance |
| 300 dpi | 11,811 × 16,701 px | 197.3 MP | Offset and digital print |
For a poster seen from a few metres away, 150 dpi is enough. That is 5906 × 8350 pixels, just under 50 megapixels. At 300 dpi it would be 11,811 × 16,701 pixels.
B0 between A0 and 2A0
Every B size is the geometric mean of two neighbouring A sizes. For B0 those are A0 and 2A0: the sides of B0 are 1.19 times those of A0, and 2A0 is again 1.19 times B0. On a copier or in a print dialogue that means 119 % from A0 to B0 and 84 % the other way.
B0 in Japan and Europe
B sizes are widely used for posters in Japan, but in the JIS version at 1030 × 1456 mm, a good 3 cm larger on each side. Large B0 posters there are often made of two B1 sheets. In Europe B0 is rare. Most posters are printed in A0 or in the sheet sizes used for outdoor advertising, and print shops usually treat B0 as a custom size.
Printing B0
At 1000 mm, the short side of B0 fits a 1067 mm (42 in) or 1118 mm (44 in) roll. Unlike 2A0, B0 can therefore be printed in one piece on many large-format printers. Allow for the bleed your printer asks for, and use a postal tube at least 105 cm long if the poster is sent rolled.
