About DIN-Formate.info

DIN-Formate.info is an independent reference for paper sizes, envelopes, printing and packaging. The site has been online since 2010 and was completely rebuilt in 2026, now with an English edition.

Who is behind the site

DIN-Formate.info went online in 2010 as a project by bwave, starting with an overview of the DIN series and a few converters. Since 2026 it has been run by kōdōkalabs in Munich. For the relaunch we recalculated every table, checked every figure against standards and primary sources, and added printing, packaging, ten calculators and this English edition.

The name stays German because “DIN-Formate” is what people in Germany call ISO paper sizes. The English pages are written for readers in the UK, Ireland and anywhere else that uses A4, with notes for North American readers wherever Letter and inches come into play.

How we work

Sources
All dimensions come from the current standards (ISO 216, DIN 476-2, ISO 217 and others) and are checked against further sources. We list the main ones under sources.
Calculation
Tables in centimetres, inches and pixels are calculated from a single checked data table, so no typo can creep in between pages.
Keeping up to date
Information that can change, such as postage rates, carries a date and is reviewed regularly.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, tell us. We check every report and correct the page if it is right.

How the site is funded

DIN-Formate.info is free and is meant to stay that way. Its costs are covered by Google AdSense advertising and commission from the Amazon Associates programme. Ads are labelled “Advertisement”, Amazon links carry an asterisk. We choose the products in our recommendation boxes ourselves. No manufacturer pays to be mentioned. More under advertising and affiliate links.

Open data

We publish the complete size table as CSV and JSON under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Developers, teachers and editors are free to use it as long as they credit DIN-Formate.info. You will find the download on the paper sizes page.
