A6 measures 105 × 148 mm, which is 10.5 × 14.8 cm or 4.13 × 5.83 inches. It is the classic postcard size, and you get it by folding an A4 sheet twice.

Almost every postcard in Europe is A6. So are index cards, invitations, small flyers and pocket diaries. Because A6 is a quarter of A4, it is easy to make at home: four cards on one A4 sheet, two cuts, done.

A6 as a postcard
Postal services set their own limits for postcards. Deutsche Post, for example, accepts postcards from 140 × 90 mm up to 235 × 125 mm, and A6 (148 × 105 mm) sits comfortably inside that range. Postcards must be made of stiff card. For home-printed cards, 300 gsm is a good choice; anything thinner than 150 gsm is too flimsy for the post.
On the back, the address goes on the right half and the message on the left. Leave roughly 15 mm free along the bottom edge, where sorting machines print their barcode.
